Unusual cystic lesion of hydatid in a camel liver. a case report.

Abstract: An unusual cystic affection was observed in the liver of camel slaughtered for meat consumption. The lesion consisted of extensive multi-locular cavities containing inspissated, jelly like material. Tuberculosis and infection with other pathogenic microorganisms were excluded bacteriological. Histopathologically, multiple ,alveolar cysts showing thin, laminated , membranous walls and structurless, lightly acidpphilic contents were observed in the liver.
The appearance of these lesions was suggestive of Echinococcosis due to Echinococcus multilocularis; however, the possibility of its being a polycystic E. granulosis cannot be entirely overlooked.
