BIOCHEMICAL AND PATHOLOGICAL STUDIES OF ACCIDENTAL TOXICOSIS IN BELGIUM WOLF DOGS

Abstract: Belgium wolf dogs (1-2 years old and 20-30 kg. Wt.) were poisoned through skin absorption during washing by Neocidol (20ml. / Liter) which used for eradication of ticks and clinical signs were, vomiting, trembling gastroentrities nasal discharge, colonic convulsions teremors, salivation, congested eyes with lacrimation, incoordination of movement, hypothermia, harried respiration and decrease in pulse rate. Dogs showed significant decrease in erythrocyte, leucocyte count and haemoglobin concentration after exposure. Total protein, globulin, AST, ALT, AP, blood glucose, blood urea, uric acid and creatinine showed significant increase in all affected dogs. Pathological examination revealed degenerative changes in the renal tubules with the presence of casts and eosinophilic debris in its luminae of the kidnys. The liver showed congestion with focal areas of haemorrhage. So, it is concluded that these servere haematological, biocemical and pathological changes were caused by neocidoltoxicity in dogs.
