Acquired Heterophyiasis in captive patagonions sea lions at Giza zoo, Egypt.

Abstract: Heterophyiasis is one of the most important endemic freshwater fish diseases in Egypt. The captive patagonions sea lions at Giza zoological garden suffered clinically from intestinal disorders manifested by bloody diarrhea shortly before death. The intestinal washing and scraping revealed hundreds of adult Heterophyid trematodes were isolated , fixed , stained , mounted and identified as Heterophyes heterophyes (Siebold , 1852) , H. dispar and H. squalis (Looss, 1902) .
