Detection of staphylococcal enterotoxins in animal feed suffs with special reference to Elisa

Abstract: The production of enterotoxins by 13 tested isolates out of S. aureus strains, which tecovered from 221local, and imported animal feed samples was detected by a reverse passive latex agglutination method with a percentage of 65 Enterotoxin type "C" was produced by 7 strains and type "A" was produced by 4 strains in addition to 2 strains produce type :A&C"
SDS polyacrykamide gel electrophoresis showed that the enterotoxin "C" had molecular size ( 24. 297 KDa )This study showed that anti - enterotoxin "C" can neutralize the lethal effect of such toxin in rabbits by using ELISA , 9 out of 25 samples proved to be harboured enterotoxin "C" as revealed by reverse passive latex agglutination test So in this work , ELISA can eliminate the need for special growth medium and cultural conditions to enhance the enterotoxin production and tedious task so it can used as a rapid easy and simple method for detection of S aureus exotoxin animal feed stuffs
