The Risk Effect on The Food Security in Assiut Governorate

The risk has important effect on the farmer’s decisions, as well as cropping pattern and food security. The effect of the risk on the agricultural production are different from area to other and Governorate to other because the natural and economic conditions are different.
The study showed that the current cropping pattern is different from the suggested cropping pattern through the risk as the cost of productive risk reached about 8.44 million pound with a ratio of 14.7% of the total expected income in Assiut Governorate. As the current pattern differs from the suggested pattern under the minimized risk with stabilizing the income as in the case of the third pattern which is the best pattern, it saves the water needed and fulfills the greatest net return per unit of water and the greatest net return of feddanunder the risk as well as the lowest percentage of the cost of productive risk as estimated to be 6.2%. It helps achieving the strategic aims of the public agricultural policy. It is suggested increase the cereal and oil crops area, thus achieving the food security in the governorate. The study revealed that the legume crops, Summer vegetable crops and fodder crops are risky crops. Hence, it is advised to construct specialized insurance.
