The exports of agricultural commodities are one of the most important items of Egyptian commodity exports, reaching about 2840.2 million dollars during the average period (2012-2015). The Arab market is the most suitable for exports of raw agricultural commodities. The value of exports of agricultural commodities reached 1098 million dollars, The Saudi market is considered the main market for exports of Egyptian agricultural commodities within the Arab market, which accounted for 32.23% of the total value of Egypt's exports of agricultural commodities to the Arab countries, by about 12.51% of the total value of exports of agricultural commodities.
This study focuses on:(1) The importance of the Saudi market as a major market for Egyptian agricultural commodities. (2) commodity structure of exports of agricultural commodities within the Saudi market. (3) The nature of the demand for the most important agricultural commodities in the Saudi market.(4) The market structure of imports of the most important agricultural commodities exports in the Saudi market. (5) competitiveness of exports of agricultural commodities in the Saudi market (6) determinants of the competitive position of the most important exports of Egyptian agricultural commodities in the Saudi market. (7) determinants of demand for the most important exports of Egyptian agricultural commodities in the Saudi market
Results: (1) The value of exports of Egyptian agricultural commodities is estimated at about 63.5% for the EU (24.8%) and for the Arab market (38.7%) for the average period (2012-2015).(2) There are seven major agricultural products, the first of the total agricultural commodities exported to the Saudi market: orange, fresh onion, strawberries, tomatoes, vegetable juices and extracts, grapes and polished rice, worth about $ 219.3 million, and about 62% of the average value of goods Which is about $ 354 million during the average period (2012-2015).(3) The commodities studied were divided into the Saudi market in terms of growth rate of demand for goods with a high rate of growth in demand, commodities falling / declining in demand growth, and demand was expressed within the Saudi market based on the growth rates of Saudi imports for each commodity during the study period. Strawberries have increased demand within the Saudi market, with Egyptian exports falling, while tomatoes and onions have declined demand within the Saudi market, with Egyptian exports increasing during the same period. (4) Orange, onion, tomato, and strawberry are considered the most important agricultural commodities destined for the Saudi market (5) Egypt ranked first in terms of market share of the market in the Saudi market with an average of 49.5%, followed by South Africa, Lebanon and Spain. It also ranked first for onions with an average of 57.2%, followed by Yemen, India and Pakistan. Egypt also ranks first in terms of market share of strawberries with an average of 60.6%, followed by Lebanon, America and Jordan. ( (6 Egypt has a competitive price advantage in exporting oranges compared to Spain. Egypt has no competitive advantage for onions, tomatoes and strawberries compared to its competitors within the Saudi market.)7(The market penetration index for strawberries, onions and oranges increased by 0.61, 0.58 and 0.51, indicating that Saudi Arabia relied heavily on Egypt's imports of these commodities in order to satisfy domestic demand by 56% in the average period (2012-2015) ), And the rest is distributed to the competing countries of Egypt, and other countries. While it was significantly lower to 0.03 for tomato yield during the same period.(8) The results of the competitive center determinants indicate that the negative value of the export price of both Egyptian orange and onion for the export prices of the competitive country of Egypt within the Saudi market has a positive and moral effect on the Egyptian market share of orange in the Saudi market.(9) The results of the analysis of the demand function of the studied commodities indicate that the factors influencing the market share of oranges in the Saudi market are the factors of the Egyptian market share and the average Saudi per capita consumption of consumption per kg / year.(10) For onions, the average Saudi per capita consumption was about 1 kg / year, and the volume of Yemen's exports of onions per thousand tons was the two factors influencing the market share of Egyptian onions in the Saudi market. The two determinants of the changes occurring in the Egyptian market share of tomatoes in the Saudi market. (11) The amount of Egyptian strawberry exports to the Saudi market by 1000 tons, as well as the amount of American exports of strawberries to the Saudi market by 1000 tons, were the factors influencing Saudi individual demand.
It is noted that quantitative effects have a significant impact on individual demand for these commodities, while price effects have an impact on fresh onions.
Recommendations
1. Increase the export capacity of orange, onion and strawberries to the Saudi market due to the high indicators of market penetration of these commodities and the Saudi market's dependence on its Egyptian imports to satisfy domestic demand.
2. Benefiting from geographical proximity in increasing food supply of commodities studied for the Saudi market
