The productive and economic efficiency of the strawberry crop in new lands. (A case study in Beheira Governorate)

Abstract: Summary:
The main objective of this study was studying the productive efficiency of the strawberry crop produced using Imported Frego seedlings, produced using locally produced fresh seedlings, at the Research Center to determine the efficiency of each in production.
By studying the average costs of processing and planting the nursery with the study sample for the production of fresh seedlings, it turned out that it amounted to about 15560 pounds, where the cost of seedlings, which is estimated at 13520 pounds, ranked first among the cost items at a rate of about 86.89%, and by studying the average production costs per acre of strawberry produced using seedlings Al-Freish Local sample study shows that it amounted to about 61560 pounds, where the cost of the nursery ranked first among the items of production costs, which amounted to 15560 pounds, with a relative importance of about 25.28% of the total costs of producing acres, While the average production costs of the strawberry crop produced using imported seedlings of freejo approximately 87,600 pounds, where the cost of the nursery ranked first in the terms of production costs, which amounted to about 48,000 pounds, with a relative importance of about 54.79% of the total cost of acre production, and thus noticed a decrease in acre costs Of the strawberry crop in the case of using local seedlings by about 26040 pounds per acre, and this may be due to the low cost of seedlings, in addition to the low cost of both irrigation and the quantities used of pesticides and chemical and municipal fertilizers to avoid the presence of residues of fertilizers and pesticides in the crop after the harvest.
By analyzing production and economic efficiency using some indicators of economic efficiency of production, it was found that the average productivity per acre using local seedlings and imported seedlings amounted to about 21.55 and 22.5 tons / acre each, respectively, with a change of about 0.95 tons,The return on the invested pound amounted to 0.75, 0.28 pounds each, respectively, by a change of about 0.47 pounds,
By studying the most important productive factors affecting the productivity of the strawberry crop produced using local seedlings during the agricultural season (2019/2020), it became clear that the most important of these factors are the cultivated area [X1], the number of seedlings per thousand seedlings [X3], the number of human work hours [X5] hours As explained variables, And the most important productive factors affecting the productivity of the strawberry crop produced using imported seedlings as a dependent variable, that the most important factors with a positive effect on the amount of output are the cultivated area [X1] per acre, and the number of seedlings [X3] an hour as explained variables. While the effect of the chemical fertilizer quantity element [X7] was estimated in kilograms negative, which indicates an excessive use of this element.
By studying the causes of the loss of the strawberry crop during and after the harvest process, it was found that infection with molds and fungal diseases comes at the forefront of the causes of the loss of the strawberry crop, by about 13.73% of the study sample farmers.
By studying the most important problems facing strawberry crop production revealed that about 10.20% of the farmers of the study sample suffer from the problem of insufficient capital for production and financing and that 9.89% of the sample farmers suffer from a lack of trained labor to collect, and 9.42% of the sample farmers suffer from The problem of high labor prices.
Recommendations:
1. The necessity of supporting the state for small farmers and providing the local seedlings (fresh) for production.
2. Providing training programs for workers on collection and post-harvest transactions to reduce crop losses.
3. Activating the extension role to educate farmers about the need to purify the seedlings before planting to protect them from infection with fungal diseases.
4. Protection of the Egyptian product and fixing the export price of the crop.
5. The necessity of opening foreign markets to market the crop.
