An Economic Study of the Role of Small Projects In Sustainable Development:(A Case Study in Gharbia Governorate)

This study aimed to studying the economic and social impacts of the small projects under study (white cheese processing plants - honey production of honeycomb cells - fattening farms of foreign chicken nurseries - cattle fattening farms) in the governorate of Gharbia Governorate, assessing the economic efficiency of these projects, The problems encountered in its work and the development of proposals for solutions to them, in order to study the commercial profitability of these projects and determine their ability to continue and meet their monetary obligations.
This study consists of three main chapters beside the introduction which includes; study problem, study goal, research method, data sources, and contents of this study. Chapter One includes clarify for some definitions which are found in the study and referential review for some previous studies relevant to the subject of the study.
Chapter Two contains studying of the general time direction of the annual change for the importance of the number of small and micro projects and the value of loans granted to each of them distributed among the economic sectors during the study period (2007-2017). It was found that the total number of small projects financed by the Social Fund for Development amounted to about 9198 projects at the governorate level. The number of animal production projects under study reached about 376 1 project representing about 40.89% of the total number of projects in Gharbia Governorate, Followed by the commercial sector, then the service sector, then the industrial sector, and finally the free professions with a percentage of about 33.97%, 16.72%, 6.77%, 1.64% of the total number of projects in the governorate. Where the relative importance of the volume of loans granted to commercial sector projects with a value of loans amounted to about 351.7 thousand pounds representing about 45.76% of the total value of loans granted to these projects at the governorate level of about 768.5 thousand pounds, followed by importance of industrial sector projects and production Livestock and then the service sector and finally the free professions by about 20.83%, 17.62%, 14.73%, 1.05% of the total population Z granted to these projects during the period (2007-2017) Gharbia Governorate
For micro, the total number of micro projects financed by the Social Fund for Development reached 44617 projects at the governorate. In terms of relative importance, the commercial sector projects reached about 22624 projects representing about 50.71% of the total. The total number of projects in Gharbia governorate, followed by the importance of service sector projects, animal production, industrial sector and other sectors, and finally, the free professions, reached 24.48%, 13.68%, 8.35%, 2.58%, 0.22% Of the total number of projects in the governorate of about 44617 projects, obtained the value of loans Amounted to about 262.3 thousand pounds, In terms of relative importance, the value of loans granted to commercial sector projects amounted to LE 156.1 thousand representing about 59.51% of the total value of loans granted to these projects at the governorate level, followed by the importance of service sector projects, industrial sector, Followed by other sectors, and finally, the free professions by 21.69%, 8.81%, 8.58%, 1.07% and 0.34% of the total loans granted to these projects during the period (2007-2017).
Estimating the general time trend for the development of the number of white cheese processing factories in Gharbia governorate during the period (2007-2017) did not prove the significance of the estimated function and the study of the actual production development of the white cheese processing laboratories in Gharbia Governorate. The general time trend equation showed a statistically significant decrease of 805.1 Ton
