An Economic Study for The Production and Marketing of The Most Important Oil Crops in Fayoum Governorate

Oil crops are considered one of the food crops and an important strategy in Egypt as they are the main source for the production of vegetable oils, and these crops are industrial crops on which many food and medical industries and animal feed industries are based. The study aimed to identify the current situation for the production of the most important oil crops in the Arab Republic of Egypt. and Fayoum Governorate, studying the marketing pathways and estimating the marketing efficiency of the most important oil crops in Fayoum Governorate.
The study of the development of sesame crop production in the Arab Republic of Egypt showed that the cultivated area took a general increasing trend at an annual rate that was not statistically significant, while the average production per acre and the total production took a general increasing trend at a statistically significant annual rate during the period (1999-2008), as shown by a study The development of the production of the sunflower oil crop in the Republic shows that both the cultivated area and the total production take a general decreasing trend at an insignificant annual rate, while the average feddan production took a general increasing trend at a statistical annual rate during the same previous period, and by studying the development of the production of sesame crop in Fayoum Governorate It turns out that both the cultivated area and the total production take an increasing general trend at an annual rate that is not statistically significant. While the average feddan production took a general decreasing trend at a statistically significant annual rate during the period (1999-2008), as it became clear by studying the development of production of the sunflower oil crop in the governorate that both the cultivated area and the total production take a general decreasing trend at a statistically insignificant annual rate. Whereas, the average feddan production took a general increasing trend at an annual rate that was not statistically significant during the same previous period.
By studying the results of the statistical estimation of production functions and cost functions for the crops of the study sample, it was found that the study was limited to two mathematical forms of the productivity function, namely the linear and logarithmic form using the phase regression method as the best standard models estimated for the production functions of the study crops to find out the factors that most influence the production of those crops. It was also found by studying the statistical estimation of the cost functions of the study crops that the best standard forms of the cost functions are the square form.
And by studying the marketing efficiency of the most important oil crops in Fayoum governorate, it was found by studying the marketing efficiency of the sesame crop that the efficiency at the level of the total sample amounted to about 94.74%. It was also found by studying the marketing efficiency of the sunflower oil crop that the efficiency at the level of the total sample amounted to about 93.36%.
The study indicated the most important problems facing oil crop producers in the study sample in Fayoum Governorate, which were classified into problems (production, financing, marketing).
