An Economic Study of the Egyptian Exports of Strawberry Using the Gravity Model

Foreign trade plays an important role in the Egyptian national economy. As it contributes to raising the rates of economic development by providing the necessary
capital for investments. Thus, expanding the production base and Exports contribute
to increase national income and foreign exchange management needed to finance
imports.
The results showed that the annual increase in cultivated area. the productivity of the fodder. the quantity of production. the value of exports and the export price of the Egyptian strawberry crop was about 0.89 thousand tons. 0.36 tons/feddans. 19.5 thousand tons. 6.7 million dollars. 257.5 dollars per ton. respectively. equivalent to
8.72%. 5.61%. 14.32%. 10.75%. respectively. during the period (2005-2018).
The study of the geographical distribution of Egyptian Strawberry crop exports also found that the most important importing countries of Egyptian strawberries according to the relative importance of the value of exports are: Saudi Arabia. Belgium. Germany. United Kingdom. Iraq. Netherlands. and the United Kingdom.
France. by 15.50%. 14.88%. 14.44%. 7.047%. 3.84%. 7.50%. 3.03%. 4.04%.
respectively. of the total value of Egyptian strawberry exports during the average period (2014-2018). with a total value of about $57.9 million for eighth markets and 70.27% of total the basic gravity model of strawberry crop that when increasing both
The Egyptian GDP and the GDP of the selected countries by 10%. the export of the crop increases by 3.58%. 17.02%. In the selected countries by 10% will lead to an increase in the quantity of Egyptian exports by 15.37%. 18.96%.
The increase in geographical distance leads to a decrease in the percentage of Egyptian exports by 18.73% The results also showed that Saudi Arabia. Belgium. Germany. France. The Netherlands. the United Arab Emirates and Iraq were responsible for increasing Egyptian exports of strawberries by 5.48%. 6.16%. 3.29%. 2.41%. 2.38%. 3.88%.
0.63%. respectively during the period under study, the research recommends that the necessity of working to preserve the Egyptian Strawberry markets by paying attention to planning for the production of Strawberry for exports to expand Strawberry exports to promising markets. the need for a strategic planning for the production of grapes for exports to expand Strawberry exports to promising markets. the need to provide an information base on all the foreign markets to serve the production and marketing sectors.
