Comparative Studies On Borrelia Anserina In chickens and Ducks

Abstract: This study evaluated two different vaccines prepared from two isolates of Borrelia anserina from chicken and ducks.
Three groups from each chicken and ducks were included. Groups 1 and 2 of chicken vaccinated with chicken vaccine and duck vaccine respectively. Groups 1 and 2 of duck vaccinated with duck and chicken vaccine respectively. Groups 3 of each species was kept as control without vaccination.
Elisa and slide Agglutination Precipitation Test (SAPT) were used for determination of antibody titre in each group.
Challenge test was performed for all mentioned groups under study after dividing them into subgroups A and B. The present work proved that there are antigenic differences between chicken and duck of strains of isolated Borrelia anserina.
So, the use of bivalent vaccine containing both chicken and duck isolates could be recommended for vaccination of such birds.
