Evaluation of agricultural extension planning: Menoufiya Governorate as a case study

Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the process of planning the agricultural extension programs in Menofiya governorate, to determine the extension workers' knowledge of criteria of the extension programs planning, to identify the level of implementation of the planning of the agricultural extension activities in Menoufiya governorate. to identify the relationships between the extension workers 'knowledge of criteria of the extension programs planning in Menoufiya governorate , level of implementation of the planning of the agricultural extension activities and independent variables.
A random sample of 218 respondents were chosen from the nine districts in Menoufiya governorate. Data was collected by interviewing respondents using a questionnaire. It was statistically manipulated and analyzed using descriptive statistics, simple correlation coefficient, and regression analysis (step-wise) .
The results revealed that:
1. Overall proportions of extension workers more than 50 years.
2. About 50 % of extension workers have B.Sc in agriculture.
3. 57% : the degree of extension workers' knowledge of criteria of the extension programs planning .
4. A positive correlation existed between the extension workers' knowledge of criteria of the extension programs planning in Menoufiya governorate and level of implementation of extension programs planning activities in Menoufiya governorate.
5. The following independent variables contributed significantly in explaining (40%) of the variation in the respondent's knowledge of criteria of planning the extension programs in Menoufiya governorate : Those variables were : attitudes toward decentralization of planning the agricultural extension programs, the numbers of training courses in extension programs planning and the number of experience years in the extension work.
6. The level of extension workers' knowledge of criteria of the extension programs planning. contributed significantly in explaining (20%) of the variation in level of implementation of extension programs planning activities .
