Correlation Studies and path analysis for Aphid resistance in cotton .

Abstract: The interrelationships between aphid reaction and morphological as well as physiological characters and analysis of aphid resistance were studied in seven intervarietal diallel crosses. The results could be summarized as follows : Some characters illustrated either positive or negative correlation coefficients for aphid resistance in parents. Path analysis revealed that the main sources of aphid resistance were : Number of glands / cm^2 and total soluble solid and their interactions in parents, while it was leaf angle under natural infestation and no. of glands under artificial infestation in crosses. For overall genotypes, it due to (pH) under natural and total soluble solid under artificial infestation. These results depend upon their contribution for aphid resistance.
