Variety x Environment interaction of cotton trials in north Delta and upper Egypt .

Abstract: Nine varieties and two promising crosses of cotton were evaluated for seed cotton yield and lint percentage at four locations of North Delta and at three locations of Upper Egypt for 1991 and 1992 seasons. Combined analysis was made to estimate the magnitude of variety x environment interactions. Randomized complete block designs were used in all trials. The obtained results indicated that; in North Delta variety x year interaction was statistically not significant for seed cotton yield and lint percentage, while variety x location and variety x location x year interactions were highly significant for the two traits. In Upper Egypt, interactions of variety x year, variety x location, and variety x location x year were highly significant for seed cotton yield. In regard to lint percentage, interaction of variety x year and variety x locations were not significant, while the interaction of variety x location x year was highly significant.
