Some reproductive aspects in doe rabbits as affected by nutritional flushing

Abstract: Thirty female NZW rabbits 4-4.5 months old were used to study effect of flushing for 15 days before sexual maturity on both FSH, LH and ovarian activity in young doe rabbits.
Does were divided into three groups and fed on different flushing from 20-30 days before mating to mid of pregnancy. At mid pregnancy three females from each group were slaughtered to evaluate genital weight and histological studies.
Results showed that sexual maturity age decreased with increasing flushing levels by around 10%. Litter size at birth in high flushing was higher than others flushing. The RBC counts were increased by low flushing level. The LH and FSH increased and T3 decreased in medium flushing level.
The histological study indicates that there were more primary and growing follicles near the outer surface in tuinca albuginea and germinal epithelial layer and their uteri had gravid endometrium with rich blood vascular supply in serosal layer.
