Effect of stocking density and growth promoter on growth performance and body composition of broiler chicken

Abstract: This work was performed to investigate the efficiency of the growth promoter ( avoparcin ) under a variety of floor space. A total of two hundred and fourty one day Vededite ISA broiler chicks were randomly distributed among 8 groups each one was represented by 3rep .( 3 x 10 chicks ). The experiment was designed to have four chick densities ( 15,18,21) and 24 chicks/m2) and two concentrations of Avoparcin ( 0 and 10 mg/kg) at constant energy level (2850 k Cal ME/Kg) for the experimental diets, with 120.8 and 158.0 C/P ratio for starter ( 0-4 weeks of age) and finisher periods ( 4-7 weeks) respectively.
The following results were obtained:
1. LBW was higher during the states period (0-4 weeks of age) in chicks fed Avo. Then in those fed the unsupplemented diets, while chicks. of the crowded one (0.042M2/chick) without Avo. Supplementation . The responses were nonsignificant during the finisher period (4-7 week, of age ).
2. Food intake was significantly affected by Avo. Supplementation during the starter and finisher periods. The antibiotic feeding group (Gr.7) with the same floor space (O.048m2/chick) was significantly more efficient (FEED/Gain) than that of unsupplemented one (Gr.3 which reared at the same density without Avo Supplementation.
3. The most crowded pen (0.042)m2/bird) which fed on supplemented Avo .Diet did not record any mortality showing that mortality rate (MR) was not affected by the stocking density.
4. Little or no change in overall dressing percentage or in weight of various carcass parts was elicited by dietary antibiotic supplementation.
5. Adding 10 mg. Avo. In broiler diet containing 2850 Kcal ME/Kg diet decreased the absolute amunt of total proteins albumin. globulin fractions, and NG ratio to the extent of 3.31, 1.42, 1.90 and 0.75% respectively. Also it decreased the glucose content to the extent of 5.78%, while increased the total lipids and total cholesterol to the extent of 4.02 and 1.26% respectively.
In conclusion, from economical point of view and under conditions of high meat prices, across all feed prices, profit potential increased at population density increased (square meter per bird) at each individual meat and feed price.
