Studies on bacterial endometritis in mares with special reference to therapeutic measures

Abstract: Bacteriological examination of uterine swabs obtained from 42 mares suffering from post portum offensive discharges and reduced fertility revealed the isolation of E.coli. proteus spp. pseudomonas aeruginosa . the antibiotic sensitivity reveals that amikacin one of the most choice antimicrobial drugs especially against to augmentine and ciprofloxacin for Gram positive bacteria especially strepococcus spp. identification of bacteria and treatment of infected mares by intrauterine infusion of 2.0 g amikacin sulphate for 3 successive days with saline lavage was effective on embryonic deaths and reduced infertility problems.
