Arab countries highly dependent on non-Arab countries in access to food, despite the diversity of resources, The Arab countries occupies a major strategic importance among the world countries, due to its vital geographical location , the vast area, huge population, and possession of economic resources.
The study aimed to study the possibilities and opportunities for the development the intra-Arab agricultural trade, to make the integration between Arab countries, and study the impact of international variables on this integration through sub-goals such as:
1- Study the agricultural resources, and total and Intra-Arab agricultural, in terms of the evolution of their value, and the extent of coverage of exports to imports, and the structure of each trade.
2- Identify the impact of regional and international integrations and international variables on the Arab countries.
3- Identify the general characteristics of each Arab country in order to know the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, in order to reach to low volume of intra- trade reasons, and attempt to overcome them.
4- To predict the size of intra agricultural trade for a future period, In light of the variables were discussed in the study.
5- Arab agricultural exchange maximization.
6- A model for Arab agricultural integration between Egypt and Sudan as a simplified model to make integration between Arab countries.
This study includes five main parts, representative namely by the introduction, abstract, and appendices, the first chapter of part one entitled the theoretical framework to clarify all some terms and concepts related to the subject of the thesis. The second chapter of part one includes review of the previous studies.
The second chapter divided into three sections, the first section describes the current situation of the total and agricultural Arab foreign trade. The second section deals with the total agricultural trade and intra- agricultural trade between Arab countries, the study showed that the value of exports and imports of Arab intra- agricultural during the period (1997- 2010), increased at annual statistical, significant rate, the study showed the most of the Arab countries growth rate of exports higher than the growth rate of imports, which refers to the lack of Arab countries dependence on each other in the provision of food. While The third section deals with analyzing of total agricultural trade and intra- agricultural trade between Arab countries and the effect of some International variables.
The third chapter included two sections, the first section described the assessment of overall Arab trade in terms of vulnerability to international variables using a gravity model. The second section deals with described the assessment of intra-Arab agricultural trade in terms of vulnerability to international variables using a gravity model.
The forth chapter divided to two sections, the first section described general characteristics of each Arab countries in terms of its geographical location and resources. The second section described the Economic resources in the Arab countries, the study showed that the area of arable land about 14% of the total area of the Arab countries, while the cultivated area represents about 4.8% of the geographical area of the Arab countries.
The third section deals with analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for the Arab countries, the study suggests through the SWOT analysis matrix some of the strategies to decreasing missed opportunities and exploit strengths to activate trade exchange between Arab countries.
The first section of the fifth chapter deals with using linear programming to maximize intra- agricultural export revenue, and transportation model. The second section of the fifth chapter deals with Integration model between Egypt and Sudan.
