Studies on the effect of nigella sativa on some reproductive traits of laying flocks of quails in North Sinai.

Abstract: Three hundred laying Quails apparently helthy. Forty five days old, were obtained from private farm in North Sinai the laying Quails were divided into 4 equal groups each of 50 hens and 25 cockerels. The birds were feed laying ration contain 1%, 2%, and 3% of freshly crushed Naigella Sativa seed (N.S.) for 70 days successive days for group 1, 2, and 3 respectivelly. Group 4 was feed the laying ration without additives and kept as control. Results indicated that, the birds in group 1 and 2. showed a significant increase in egg production, hatchability, percentage, sperm number and motility. Moreover group 3 reported slight significant decrease in egg production and hatchability in hens and oligospermia in cockerels tissue alteration of testis and ovary were recorded. Some liver and kidney functions in addition to some hematological parameters were deterimined.
