Utilization of Mushroom by-products for feeding ruminants 1- effect of feeding rations containing different levels of Mushroom by-products on performance of lactating buffaloes

Abstract: This study was carried out to evaluate the nutritional value of Mushroom cultivating residues. Spent wheat straw (SWS), through digestibility trial, possibility of utilizing spent wheat straw (SWS) in feeding lactating buffaloes and examine the effects of there feeding on milk yield and composition using five lactating buffaloes (590 kg in average) using “Swing Over” method to evaluate the following experimental rations:
Control ration (C) : 100% concentrate feed mixture (CFM) + molasses wheat straw (10% molasses) of Shehata (1970), requirements.
1st tested ration (T1): 75% of control ration + SWS plus 10% molasses ad lib.
2nd tested ration (2): 50% of control ration+ SWS plus 10% molasses ad lib.
The main result showed that, 1st tested ration was superior to all treatments in improving (P<0.05) all nutrients and nutritive digestibilities values as TDN, SE and DCP.
The milk yield was increased by 7.37% for 1st tested ration, but it was decreased by 3.16% for 2nd tested ration then IC ration (P<0.05).
Milk composition did not affected by any treatment (P<0.05).
The data showed, milk production of buffaloes fed rations contained SWS was more efficient than that fed control ration (IC).
