The Developed countries direct a large part of its production of important food commodities to produce biofuel which led to the creation of economic, social and environmental problems.
And this study aims to evaluate the impact of directing of food producing countries to produce biofuel on the Egyptian food security. And it included five sections: the first section entitled ( the study entrance) in three chapters: the first chapter discusses the aim and the problem of this study, the second deals with the methodology and data sources, while the third chapter reviews the previous studies reference and the most important results and recommendations reached .
And section two contains the theoretical framework; the third section includes global production and consumption of biofuels, the evolution of global production and trade of food commodities used in the production of biofuels. Section four deals with the most important production indicators and foreign trade for food.
Increasing global demand of agricultural products is considered one of the most important factors which subsides the raising tendency for its prices.
The research's problem focuses on the global expand in the production of biofuel and its effect on the increase of the Egyptian imports of food crops and the research's objective is to evaluate this effect and the possibility to overcome the supposed increase in the food gap , as a result of increasing the production of biofuel, and the research depends on the quantitative and descriptive statistic analytical methods and its conclusion is that bioethanol is the most produced and consumed kind of liquid biofuel.
And now Egypt can't affect the world- neither positively nor negatively – to direct the biofuel production from non-nutritional crops so some methods should be followed to decrease the food gap:
Firstly: by vertical extension by using modern agricultural techniques through the optimal economic use of the limited resources either land or water or financial capital resources.
Secondly: It's possible to reduce the food gap by rationalizing the consumption by adjusting consumption types of various crops and also to reduce population growth rate.
Thirdly: food gap could be reduced by minimizing both production and marketing loss in all agricultural products specially: wheat and rice.
It has been referred to some studies which have been working hard to maximizing the reduction in the loss of some crops
and also there is an Islamic approach which could be followed in solving the food problem.
