Effect of potato vines silage solanine on some blood minirals, semen production capacity, sperm freezability and fertility of Rahmany rams

Abstract: Some blood mineral, semen characteristics capacity (semen volume, sperm motility, sperm concentration and normal spermatozoa) through repeated ejaculation (3 ejaculates/daily up to consecutive 12 days), sperm freezability and sperm fertility of rams were studied through this work. Six adult and healthy males were divided into two groups (3 in each) the first group fed 50% concentration- feed mixture (CFM) plus 50% berseem hay (BH) compared with the second group that received 50% CMF and 50% potato vines silage (P.VS). Fertility test was used 54 (27 in each group) mature and health ewes allocated into two groups 1st mating by rams fed BH while, while the 2nd serviced with rams nourished PVS.
The results found that blood minerals (Ca, P. Mg and Fe) were higher significantly (P<0.05) with PVS than BH. The partial depletion of epididymis found that BH and PVS groups were no significant (P<0.05) differences in semen characteristics, while repeated semen collection during first, second, and third ejaculations were differences (p<0.05) in semen volume, sperm motility, normal spermatozoa and sperm concentration. Ejaculate volume and sperm concentration differed (p
