Dill and parsley as growth promoters in white New Zealand growing rabbits
|
|
Abstract: The role of dill and parsley at natural growth promoters was studied in 45 male growing New Zealand rabbits. Rabbits were classified into 5 equal groups. The first group was used as control that received free basal ration. Groups from two to five received free basal ration supplemented with either dill or parsley at the dose of 0.50 and 1.0 %. fespectively. Dill supplementation at the two doses used and parsley at 1.0 % significantly (p<0.05) increased the absolute final live body weight and daily body gain weight compared with the control group. Dill or parsley supplementation at the two doses used significantly (P<0.05) increased the daily feed intake. Dill at the two doses used significantly (p<0.05) decreased the value of triglycerides. Dill at 1.0% dose significantly (P<0.05) improved the value of packed cell volume (pcv). Rabbits received either dill or parsley at any dose used showed no significant differences in feed conversion ratio and digestibility coefficient. Rabbits received either dill or parsley at 1.0 % dose showed significant (P<0.05) decrease in abdominal fat weight. Keywords: Dill, Parsley, growth promoters, rabbit.
